I do so agree with everything you have written! In choosing the easy spoon fed AI we are confusing information with actual knowledge. Individuality of thought is the most valuable of human traits. 📚📚📚📚
This made me so self aware. Our brains are now hardwired to this line of thinking that we must not exceed the devotion of our time to a long period of time. AI really is destroying the creativity of people by making the adoption of a creative mind so accessible. I will for sure take the advice of pretending to be a journalist while attempting to fulfil my curiosity.
i'm so glad! unfortunately, we all fall victim to this to some extent, we stop appreciating how many sources of information we have that we can use and form our own opinion, we just accept without thinking what artificial intelligence tells us.
I absolutely love this! I’m actually researching the intersections of AI and art for one of my undergrad classes and am grappling with how we define art and what makes art so special. Imo, I don’t think AI can truly create art because the true beauty of art is in the creation process where artists discover what they want the intention of their art to be. Art to me is all about the intention and the message because it’s honestly so powerful.
I have the same opinion, AI uses things that have already been created, everything is done very schematically, always described in the same robotic way, devoid of the soul of the artist.
I knew this world without the Internet. I mean, it existed, but only adults used it and it was totally different from what it is now. People didn't spend all day on Facebook. So I only started having access in my teens, and until the end of high school I didn't have a good cell phone so I didn't use it much, I saw the teenagers around me using it all day long. Anyway, we from Gen Z only had a little of that, the world without how Internet it's now, and I feel sad because I miss that time. I know that many people see Gen Z as cell phone addicts, but in fact we grew up differently from today's kids.
I don't know what I'm talking, I just like reading these texts that remind me that I can choose what I do, that I am a conscious person. Thank you for reminding me that I can escape this consumer world...
Since I discovered the impact of AI on the world, I stopped using it. I don't think humans were made for that. I don't understand how other people really like so much easy consumption, I would like to get away.
totally agree with everything said in this piece. while social media had already infiltrated the minds of the new generation and altered their perception and attention span, AI has become a catalyst. worse, it has become another capitalist tool to erase creativity, give the illusion of satiating curiosity much like you said, resulting in creative jobs being stripped away from people who may otherwise have to contribute into a meaningless corporate world. as a young student and a creative person this is frustrating to the highest extent, to see my peers lacking aspirations and the motivation to put in the effort, when ai could do it for them. even the people I know who are aware of these increasing issues can't stop using AI, because otherwise there is an added pressure that becomes too much on top of the anxiety that the 21st century imposes on them, so they're not willing to let go of the comfort and convenience it brings. it gives a sense of accomplishment, but the people I know and me included are still aware that it feels undeserving, like a cheap way to succeed that benefits no one who needs knowledge and art. truly we live at a time when we need artists and writers the most.
AI supporters give a deceptive feeling that "it doesn't change so much" because it's just a small help, to make it easier for us. They know well that people will immediately use the opportunity to do another thing without effort and consumers will not limit themselves in this, large companies will earn and small artists will lose, the content will completely lose their character, become robotic and all the same. There will be no room for individuality.
I love reading this kind of thing when I'm on the transport on my way to college, because it's one of the quietest moments in which you feel the most freshness to read, and your words are one of those that make you stop your gaze from your mobile and look at a place to reflect, congratulations because this is going to be today's peak ⭐️🫶🏻
Your description on how people are acting now, and how they consume culture and content reminds me of the humans from Wall-E 🫠
I don't know if it's because I'm getting older and going through that process of complaining about the modern world, but the way society is being shaped by social media, the algorithm and AI is really scary.
Unfortunately we're now thrown into a sad reality where AI uses the work of artists without permission, where people allow it because it is quick and easy, without thinking about the consequences, where people see no problem in not being able to find the answer to the simplest question and accept everything that chat tells them without any research. This is supposed to be development, but in fact we are regressing even further.

Interesting comment on the shift of culture within the arts. Are times evolving at a rapid pace more than we are ready for?
Great read, thank you x
thank you!!

Absolutely loved this, and I couldn't agree more! Sometimes the act of searching for the answer is more important than the answer itself.
